A Window Into the European City: Exploring Socioeconomic Residential Segregation in Urban Poland

In this paper, we build on a long research effort aimed at identifying the specific conditions, functional and structural characteristics of urban areas, that produce different levels residential segregation across cities. We explore in Poland's 87 largest cities, cities with more than 50,000 residents, by measuring indices dissimilarity relating to socio-professional status. then proceed examining core determinants revealed levels, including city size, housing market characteristics. The results suggests regions are indeed significant predictors level socio-spatial disparities Poland. As expected, larger segregated smaller ones; higher shares public also appear contribute pronounced socioeconomic spatial divisions. Intriguingly, share new stock alone is not related strong segregation.
